gnome-volume-control-applet is the little speaker icon in the top right that lets you adjust your volume. After upgrading, mine wasn't there. In addition, "System > Preferences > Sound" failed to load. The fix is simple:rm -rf ~/.pulse*
You don't even have to restart.
