WOhoo! Saturday we were doing some electrical work and my husband shut off the breaker that powered our Wii. I couldn't power it back on. I went next door and used their cord...it worked. Came home and my cord still didn't work. I heard if you used someone else's cord to power it up yours would work. Not so. I borrowed their cord for the night. Today (monday) I read this and tried. Wah la! It worked! BTW, Amazon had a new cord for $6 (+shipping). Yay for a working Wii.

SHAZAMM! Wow what a life saver. Went to play WII and it was dead. Did a search on internet for "WII power supplies" and noticed the link for this page. Read it, disconnected both ends of power supply and timed 3 minutes. Plugged it back in and VOILA! IT WORKS!! What a life saver! "Don't you just love it when a plan comes together?"

Check Nintendo's site... They have specific instructions for resetting the power supply that state it must be unplugged from both ends for 2 minutes or more. I have had mine dead several times when we wanted to use the Wii. After taking the unit to the workshop, usually after several minutes of looking it over, I would find that it came on when I plugged it in.

damn I love the internet. I opened this site in one tab and amazon.com in another so I can purchase another Wii power supply. Luckily this site loaded first and I read it. Took the advise and went and plugged the Wii power supply into the outlet,,,,SOB it worked! Mind you I am very mechanically/electrically inclined, and the wii has been setting idle for a month now, there for I fell really dumb about now.

Hmmm...same scenario. Thunder storm, flickering lights, power outage (30sec at most). Later went to use the Wii and it didn't work. Was plugged directly into wall (why? kids?). Unplugged PS from wall and back into UPS, no change. Unplugged PS to check it with volt meter next day. Should have 12V DC output but I got 30V DC. I am affraid to plug it into the Wii for fear of frying the Wii.

This is exactly right. After several brief power "flickers" caused by a thunderstorm, my Wii stopped working. After unplugging it and following the advice here (I like to think of it as the "Little Bo Peep Method" of leaving it alone...) everything was back to normal and worked fine.

My Wii supply acts somewhat differently. If I leave it plugged in, the power supply is usually dead when I want to use the Wii. If I unplug after every use, the PS is fine when I next go to use it. It started this about a month ago, right about the time the warranty expired.

Same here, measured the output of the powersuply, nothimng. I search the internet and found youre article. Left it unpugged and shorted the output (to drain the capacitors). Plugged in and it worked again.
